IRRIGATION CHECKLIST

• Are water emitters in good working order and applying uniform coverage?

• An irrigation clock and controller to maximize water efficiency?

SOIL CHECKLIST

• Is the site properly graded with proper drainage?

NEW LAWN

Stagger the rows. At each plug location drill a hole about 1 1/4 inch deep

To calculate the number of plugs needed, use the following formula for the appropriate spacing:

12 inches on center

Multiply lawn footage by 1.00
9 inches on center

multiply lawn footage by 1.78
6 inches on center

multiply lawn footage by 4.00

Reduced spacing will establish proportionally quicker.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

Thank you for choosing to install the only buffalograss cultivar developed for our southwest climates. Follow the steps below and you will be on your way to a low and feels great.

Your plants are grown in biodegradable net pots. Water your net pots in the tray often and keep the plants in light shade until you are ready to plant. Return your empty trays to insure all plastic is recycled.

Area being planted must be free of iving vegetation and debris. Make sure your ground is graded for drainage.

Keep net pots wet at all times, before and after planting. Never let plants dry out. Once all net pots are well rooted into the ground, gradually reduce watering. Properly maintained net pots should root in 2 to 3 weeks. To check if plants have rooted, gently attempt to pull plant from ground. A rooted plant will give resistance.

Apply a starter fertilizer at time of planting. Many organic types are available.

Plant net pots so the top of the soil is slightly below ground level with base of grass lightly covered with soil. If the top of the net pot is above ground it will dry out rapidly and die.

Be sure net pots sit at the bottom of the hole; eliminate any air pockets by packing soil down gently around the sides and top of plant.

Saturation of the planted area with water immediately after planting will help alleviate, but not cure, planting errors. If plants are too deep they will rot, if planted to high they may dry out.

Apply a high quality slow release lawn fertilizer every 30 days during the active growing season, March thru October, until full coverage is achieved.

Control weed growth by hand or with a pre emergent herbicide. Good organic types are available. Competition from weeds will delay establishment of your lawn.

When plants reach 3½ inches tall, mow area at a height of 2½ inches to stimulate lateral spreading.

Once full coverage is achieved, water as needed, mow as desired.

IMPORTANT: TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL PLANTING KEEP PLANTS WET AT ALL TIMES AND CONTROL WEEDS DURING ESTABLISHMENT.
